Thank you for listening to my podcast with Lindsey Beveridge with Recovery Nutrition. She is a Registered Nutritional Therapist specialising in mental health & addiction recovery support.
Here is some of Lindsey's recommended reading:
Her top 3 books for anyone who wants to understand more about addiction:
- ‘Never Enough: the neuroscience and experience of addiction’ by Judith Grisel
- ‘In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts – close encounters with addiction’ by Gabor Mate and
- ‘The Body keeps the Score – mind , brain and body in the transformation of trauma’ by Bessel van der Kolk.
Lindsey received psychotherapy support which she says was also critical to her recovery. Her therapists practises the Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor psychotherapy, which is discussed in van der Kolk’s book. She wanted to be sure to stress nutritional therapy goes hand in hand with psychotherapy in addiction recovery.
For anyone wanting to talk to clients about the effects of alcohol on their bodies and brains, she recommends ‘Drink – the new science of alcohol and your health’ by Prof David Nutt. She likes his balanced approach - "he doesn’t demonise alcohol (he’s a moderate drinker himself), but lays out how it damages us so clients can decide for themselves."
You can find Lindsey on several social media platforms such as:

This event aims to bring together a range of healthcare professionals to share innovative ways to support clients with a particular focus on gut health and its many manifestations. We are delighted to have confirmed Dr Alan Desmond from the Devon Gut Clinic, Dr Elisabeth Philipps and Tanya Borowski as our keynote speakers.
We are pleased to say NutriGold and Genova Diagnostics are Gold Sponsors and one of our main supporters is The Alliance For Natural Health.
